Is it me or music and special sound effects in movies are MUCH louder than dialogues? Often I can barely understand what they are saying, whereas the music and explosion sounds are blowing my eardrums! What's the point of it? Now, while watching some movies, I keep changing the sound volume all the time!!!

Right on. But it's also important to distinguish between volume and frequency with speaking voices. Sometimes increasing the volume is counterproductive.

It's not you. It's Hollywood. Producers like JJ Abrams, Jerry Bruckheimer, Brian Grazer, the worst of the "top ten", if you can call them that, is Michael Bay! Then, the worst of the worst - Joel Silver & Harvey Weinstein. These guys are maximum action and heavy drama, whether it fits the movie or not - just make up something...anything!...and most of today's movie producers & directors do just that. They turned what could have been highly entertaining, fun movies into over-the-top, unbelievable & excessive action(that too often bypasses the laws of physics altogether for a non-sci-fi movie very little dialogue(that makes any sense), plot lines that have no connection, direction, & make no sense, and on and on. Plus, it makes no sense(ta-da..)that Ridley Scott didn't make the top ten! He has never made a bad movie; at least not one that wasn't successful. Brother Tony was the same way until he died. Sad.

I agree, this is very annoying. And in theaters this is worse, since you can't adjust the volume yourself!
