The Rejection of Insect-eating

Insects are the solution to hunger in the World, and in spite of it, this idea is massively rejected. I don't understand. It only shows how people are ignorant. Yes, insects look disgusting and sticky, but who said you have to eat them raw? Why do people make this assumption? Because of some TV shows, where guys are surviving in the wild putting in their mouths all they can find that crawls and creeps?

In Asia, where this practice is widely spread, they fry insects, and it's not different from all the fried junk food that we Americans are eating all day long, not different except this is infinitely much healthier! It's almost pure protein!

So I'll repeat it again, don't make an assumption. Think and try by yourself, then make your own opinion.

I don't think we should eat animals, and insects are animals. Can't we come up with alternatives to killing and eating animals??

I agree with G-793.

In the 21st century, we have the knowledge and the technology to develop new ways of feeding Humanity.

Agreed on the theory, but I skeptical about the results. Each time "we" develop new things, or alternative solutions, this also leads to other kind of problems. Let's say we develop artificial meet, without having to kill animal, (or insects), I am sure that, one day, we'll find out that they cause health problems, or things like that, or that the material being used is having an impact on the environment. Look at soy, and how amazing it is, for all kind of things. So the result is that, we are massively destroying forest, to create soy fields... is that profitable at the end, I am not sure!

Hello,

I have to confess that the idea of eating insects disgusts me, but for not rational reasons. It's because I find them repulsive, with all their legs, viscous bodies or at the simple idea of imagining their insides, ewk !

But after all, if you think about it, it is gross to think about meat ! Cut up the flesh of an animal, extracting the bones, organs, and muscles and fat-this is so gross, and worse!

So I might try one day to, … No, I will try insects. Definitively.

Most of the time, insects are fried, you can't tell if they are insects, or anything else. Same for the taste. So all is in the head.

I do not know for others but my problem is that, with insects, you can always identify them on your plate! This is it which bothers me. With a slice of meat, you do not recognize the animal itself. Which, in my opinion, explains why we can eat meat without any problem. If you put the whole animal on your plate, I bet you will not be able to eat it!
