USB Key stuck in read-only mode... again!

Fucking USB key! This is the second time in a row that I end up with an USB key stuck in read-only mode! I don't understand this, and this is of course making it useless (at least I didn't loose the data it contained, thankfully!)

How the hell can these keys decide on their own to switch to a write-protect mode???? There is not even a switch to pull, like in the old times of the floppy disk.

I really can't figure what is happening, and if this is reversible. Does anyone have an idea? Because it really pisses me off, and makes me worry about using them.

Er.

Sounds like a micro overvoltage. This happens with cheap USB keys which have no security protection against this.

Sorry Guy, but your key is irretrievably blocked. At least, in read-only, you didn't lost your data!

But what does it matter if he didn't loose his data? I mean, can he copy it to another USB key?
