What I Want to do When I Retire
I'd like to start a thread dedicated to how we all wish to retire. It doesn't have to be written in stone. It can just be something your heart desires and you know you will never do. It is just a dream. It doesn't matter; put it down.
I'd like to move to France with my kittens and buy a tiny cottage with a thatched roof and a stone fireplace, and an acre of land, and grow saffron. I could probably make enough money to live on that, me and my kitties and my partner. Kittens and saffron fields and blue skies. That is my retirement.
What is yours?

I want a little house on a cliff by the ocean, a wild ocean that has plenty of storms. Gray skies, savage winds, where I can hear the crash of the waves and feel my long hair whipping across my face. My house has a cast-iron stove, which is the main source of heat, and there is a little greenhouse attached to the side, where I grow a hanging garden of flowers. Down below the cliff is a rocky beach, and when it is not too cold, I take off my shoes and I walk across the cool, smooth stones, as salt foam covers my feet. I live alone with my pets, and every day is a blessing.

I would like to live in the Arizona desert. Beautiful, stark landscapes, blue skies. The summers bright and burning, the winters, crisply cold with sharp winds and diamond frosts. I have a ranch home, but I don't raise animals for the slaughter. All my darlings are pets, and I'm their mommy. I have goats, llamas, French hens, and kitty-catys. At night in the cold months, I sit in front of my fireplace and knit special things for my niece. In the summer, I go out in the baking warmth, and sit under the shade and make beaded necklaces. But I don't charge money for them. I give them away, because I don't need to take money.
